Dubai's new 2071 Zone aims to be at the heart of innovation
Abdulaziz Khalid Al Jazairi is appointed director of new initiative to create innovative solutions and tools
Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future, has issued a decree appointing Abdulaziz Khalid Al Jazairi as the director of 2071 Zone, a new initiative to drive innovation.
The appointment was made following the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to encourage young people to lead the nation's institutions and push them towards creating opportunities for a brighter future, state news agency WAM reported.
The zone, located at Emirates Towers in Dubai, is designed to serve as the headquarters of global smart companies, services and labs, and will work to create innovative solutions and tools, in accordance with future requirements and technologies.
The zone will seek to unify efforts and initiatives thattarget the future and will represent an umbrella that joins all government accelerators, Dubai Future Accelerators, and the World Youth Centre.
Sheikh Mohammed launched the 2071 Zone on Sunday, in line with the UAE Centennial Vision 2071, which aims to make the UAE a model for realising creative ideas that better serve humanity.
The project also targets large and medium-sized organisations that own laboratories to design future technological visions, tools and solutions.
Abdulaziz Al Jazairi has previously held positions at Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Executive Office. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, and is a graduate of the UAE Government Leaders Programme.
The 2071 Zone is named after the UAE's Centennial Vision 2071 - the government's long term plan that marks the 100 years since the establishment of the UAE, and aims to invest in the country's youth.
