City Network brings Equinix on board for Dubai Data Centre
The latest development marks City Network’s next step towards public cloud service expansion in MENA.
Equinix, a global interconnection and data centre company, has revealed that IT infrastructure service provider City Networks, has deployed Equinix's Dubai International Business Exchange (IBX).
Intended to drive rapid expansion of City Network's public cloud service, City Cloud, in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, the implementation will see the deployment of Platform Equinix.
Jeroen Schlosser, managing director, Equinix MENA said: "The Equinix Dubai data centre is the first world-class, network-neutral aggregation point in the MENA Region. Facilitating the Dubai deployment of industry leaders such as City Network constitutes a great opportunity, showing the value of Equinix in enabling access to fast-growing markets, interconnection and business acceleration with high-speed connectivity to anywhere in the world."
Present across Europe, US and Asia, City Network's City Cloud, a public IaaS platform, will take advantage of Equinix's 150 IBX data centres and spread across 41 global markets, to deliver direct virtual connections of its services the MENA region.
With its foundation in OpenStack, City Cloud is a scalable IaaS that delivers cloud management, secure servers, storage and global private networks.
Commenting on the announcement, Johan Christenson, CEO and founder, City Network shared: "In an increasingly regulated world where digitization puts enormous pressure on data capacity, there is a substantial demand to operate and store data in a location of choice."
