Mobily conducts LoRa trials
Mobily has tested LoRa network technology in Riyadh.

Mobily has completed the first successful trial of a LoRa LPWA network in Saudi Arabia.

The telco tested LoRa, low-power, wide area network in two locations in Riyadh, deploying Internet of Things applications  for smart buildings and asset tracking. The LoRa technology provides low power consumption to avoid draining connected sensor batteries, and is also lower cost to allow for pervasive roll out.

The trials were carried in collaboration with Cisco, and build on long running cooperation between the two companies and a commitment to introduce new technologies to Saudi.

Eng. Majed Alotaibi, SEO Strategic Planning & Marketing at Mobily said: "Mobily continues the path of strengthening its pioneer position by providing new and innovative technologies in the Kingdom. IoT is one of the main pillars of Mobily's strategy that will enable us as the leading service provider in digital transformation and play a major role in the 2030 vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
