Linksys unveils research on connected homes

According to the report, Middle East’s connected families highlighted Wi-Fi connectivity as a top priority for performance.

Khan: “With the explosion in popularity of smart devices and countless streaming media services, connected families are looking for a networking system that envelopes their home with Wi-Fi, is easy to deploy and provides higher performance throughout the home and at the edge of the network."

Linksys, a provider of commercial and private Wi-Fi networking technologies, has unveiled company-led research that focused on Middle East connected homes and the various factors that end-users considered for effective performance.

According to the research, connected families in the region prioritised speed and reliability over streamlined and non-essential features. More than 50% of participants surveyed identified poor speed, range, and reliability as the chief sources of frustration.

As a result, consumers are forced to introduce more technologies into their home environment, which include additional routers and range extenders. The main challenges for them include stamping out dead zones, managing multiple network identities, and degenerating Wi-Fi signals, to name a few.

Amanullah Khan, Managing Director, Linksys, Middle East, Turkey & Africa, said: “With the explosion in popularity of smart devices and countless streaming media services, connected families are looking for a networking system that envelopes their home with Wi-Fi, is easy to deploy and provides higher performance throughout the home and at the edge of the network.

He added: “Whole home Wi-Fi systems are the future of home networking because they provide a more simple way to distribute Wi-Fi around the home to the mass market user.”

In addition to the release of the research findings, the company will also be launching a Whole Home Wi-Fi Modular Mesh system, designed to deliver Wi-Fi connectivity over large areas of the property.
