Etisalat data centre receives Tier III gold certification
Etisalat is the first provider in the MENA region to acquire the certificate
Etisalat has announced it has received Tier III gold certification from the globally recognised data centre authority ‘Uptime Institute' for Operational Sustainability.
The Operational Sustainability certificate ensures that Etisalat's Khalifa City Data Centre has the utmost degree of mitigation against the risk of human error outage, accounting for over 70% of all data centre outages globally.
With this certification, emergency plans and procedures are in place to guarantee rapid response by the operations team. Plus, scheduled and corrective maintenance procedures for every system and unit of equipment in the data centre to help mitigate any risks of equipment-caused outages.
The certification stage looks at three key categories of data centre operations mainly management and operations, building characteristics and site location.
Uptime Institute consultants accessed Etisalat's Khalifa City Data Centre management operations with demonstration and discussion with the management and facilities team. The certification identifies and assesses underlying risks and behaviours that are outside the scope of data centre design and construction, but may have a significant impact on the long-term availability of the data centre.
The acknowledgement is of the highest level of operational excellence for Etisalat's Khalifa City Data Centre in Abu Dhabi. Plus, Etisalat is the first provider in the MENA region to acquire the certificate out of only 18 facilities in the world certified with Tier III Gold Operational Sustainability.
