WhatsApp's latest update enables users to track the location of group members, in real-time.

The latest feature, which is reportedly called Live Location Tracking, will allow users on both Android and iOS to find group members. The aim of the feature is to help users find the exact location when meeting each one another and to see how far away everyone is form the meet up destination.

Whilst useful, the update raises concerns over security and privacy, however WhatsApp has provided control to the user as tracking can be kept on for a few minutes or indefinitely.  Plus the live streaming can be deactivated to prevent group members tracking one another at any time.

The Live Location Tracking is disabled as a default and therefore will need to be activated when used.

This new feature has been found on the beta builds of both Android and iOS i.e. version 2.16.399 and version 2.17.3.28.

WhatsApp has also launched two other features dubbed Recall and Edit, but for Android users only. The first feature, Recall, allows users to recall a sent message as long as the recipient has not read it and the second feature, Edit, works in a similar way, as users can edit a message as long as it has not been read.
