Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi investment and development company, today announced the retirement of Ibrahim Lari as CEO from Injazat Data Systems (Injazat), a regional IT managed services market leader wholly owned by Mubadala.

Lari will remain on board as a strategic senior advisor to the newly elected chief executive officer, Khaled Al Melhi, who currently serves as Chairman of Injazat.

“Khaled Al Melhi brings critical leadership experience and a fresh perspective to Injazat – vital as ICT continues to develop as a cornerstone sector in the diversification of our nation’s economy,” said Homaid Al Shimmari, CEO, aerospace & engineering services (AES) at Mubadala. “Ibrahim Lari’s commitment to Injazat has been unparalleled, and I am delighted that we will continue to benefit from his guidance, experience and insight as a strategic advisor to the Injazat leadership team as they drive the growth of this pioneering homegrown success.”

Al Melhi was previously CEO of Bayanat a company that provides mapping, surveying and geospatial services and a subsidiary of the Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC), the integrated national defence platform. Khaled has established expertise in the ICT sector through his time as Chairman of Injazat, as well as his role as head of the UAE Armed Forces Military Survey Department’s Photogrammetry department, researching suitable Geographic Information Systems.

Khaled Al Melhi commented on his new appointment, ‘It is truly an honor to be appointed as the new CEO for Injazat, a company that has paved the way for establishing leading data centre and IT services in the region. I look forward to working with all of the inspirational employees and guiding Injazat onto future success in the years to come.”

Lari has been with Injazat for over 10 years and was instrumental to the inception of the company in 2005.  During his tenure, key highlights include opening the first Tier IV Data Centre in the Middle East, building its tier-one partner network, as well as overseeing the expansion of the company to its current position as a leader in the UAE IT managed services market.
