Citrix announces key business updates at annual summit
Acquisition of UniDesk, roadmap to the cloud, and secure mobility for partners and customers among highlights
Citrix has announced at Citrix Summit 2017 its acquisition of UniDesk, the brand behind developing the Windows application packaging and management technology known as layering.
Also highlighted were solutions, tools and support services designed to enable customer progression to the cloud at various stages of the migration process. This comes as demand for an architecture that allows customers to manage workloads on their current infrastructure, while having the ability to migrate to one or more clouds grows considerably.
UniDesk delivers application layering technology that streamlines secure app delivery and VDI deployments. Through incorporating UniDesk technology into XenApp and XenDesktop, Citrix can offer a best in-class solution for apps and desktops in the cloud, on-premises and in hybrid deployment environments. As UniDesk technology is already compatible with XenApp and XenDesktop, it will be available to customers who have active Citrix Success Services subscriptions.
Citrix introduced new packages to transition from on-premises licenses to Citrix Cloud for existing customers and services that enable Citrix and Microsoft customers to deploy Windows 10 desktops on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. Also, the provision of services to deploy apps directly on Azure, and Smart Tools to simplify the deployment of new workspaces.
Citrix has also announced a new Citrix Ready partner initiative targeting the mid-market along with mobility and network management products and services that complement Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) and provide comprehensive security and value for Citrix and Microsoft customers.
“Through our portfolio of products and services, Citrix is equipping partners and customers with the necessary tools to ensure their successful journey to the cloud.
