CES 2017: Huawei Mate 9 to feature Amazon’s Alexa
Huawei reveals its newest addition to the Mate Series which will be embedded with Amazon's digital assistant
During the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, it was revealed that Amazon's Alexa will be featured in Huawei's Mate 9 smartphone.
Amazon's Alexa will be able to perform everyday tasks, such as setting alarms, creating lists and gathering information for its users. From 6 January, the Mate 9 will feature a pre-installed app giving user's access to Amazon's Alexa, to which Huawei describes the digital assistant as a "natural, convenient user interface".
The Huawei Mate 9 includes a 4000mAh high-density battery that is linked to the promoted Supercharge technology. This technology increases battery life to provide over two days of uninterrupted performance, plus it supports 5A fast charging where 20 minutes of charge will bring enough power to watch two full movies.
With smartphone safety making recent headlines, Huawei has included Super Safe 5-gate protection, which monitors voltage, current and temperate in real-time to eliminate any potential hazards.
Building on the success of Huawei's Mate 8 and P9, the Mate 9 features the premium Kirin 960 chipset along with Huawei's Machine Learning Algorithm, which Huawei aims to deliver an ongoing fast experience even after 18 months of continuous use.
With the Kirin 960, the CPU delivers multi-core performance among all smartphone SoCs, while reducing power consumption by 15% and the GPU boats a 180% performance uplift, and a 40% improvement in energy efficiency compared to its predecessor.
Huawei has also reimagined the Android experience with the introduction of EMUI 5.0, with this, the device becomes more intelligence and efficient as it gradually understands its users behavioural patterns.
The Huawei Mate 9 is available in Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, Space Gray, and Moonlight Silver in 64GB and at a retail price of AED 2,299.
