Cloud infrastructure and business mobility provider VMware, has recently announced the release by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for VMware AirWatch® 9.X Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).

The guide oversees the correct protocols of installation of VMware's platform for use by the US' Department of Defense (DoD). In addition to detailing the stringent cybersecurity policies, the guide includes the requirements and controls needed for IT to implement across all systems and architectures.

Commenting on the guide, William J. Rowan, vice president, Federal Sales, U.S. Public Sector at VMware, said: "Federal agencies and security-conscious organizations alike look to STIGs as a guideline to create the most secure enterprise mobility management deployments."

He added: "While we've had a STIG for a previous version of the solution for several years, our customers want to take advantage of the innovations available in our latest iterations of AirWatch. This STIG validates that security is at the core of AirWatch and customers across the Dept. of Defense and other high-security environments can assuredly deploy the leading EMM solution."

The full guide is available at the Information Assurance Support Environment (IASE) website. The site also contains the STIG release memo for VMware AirWatch Version 9.X, as well as details related to DISA's previous release of AirWatch 6.5 in 2014.
