Smartworld and Cisco lead UAE delegation to Silicon Valley
The delegation comprised of CIOs from select companies in the UAE.
Smartworld, Smartworld, a joint venture between Etisalat and Dubai South, along with its strategic partner Cisco, recently led a delegation comprised of UAE-based CIOs to Silicon Valley in US.
The trip, which lasted from the 22 - 30 October, 2016, saw the delegation visit a number of technology companies based in Silicon Valley. These included Cisco's Executive Experience Center in San Jose, General Electric Digital in San Ramon, Oracle Customer Visit Center in Redwood and EMC Executive Briefing Center in Santa Clara.
The delegation also visited Microsoft Technology Center in Mountain View.
Part of the CIOMajilis initiative, which is supported by Smartworld, the trip was focused on exposing UAE companies to novel technologies and concepts that may benefit the Middle East region.
Commenting on the trip, Abdulqader Obaid Ali, chief executive officer, Smartworld, said: "The purpose of the tour was to gain insights into the latest global trends and best practices in innovation adopted by the leading technology companies in the world as well as to show them what we have achieved."
Similarly, Ahmed Al Mulla, chairman of CIOMajlis, added: "The tour was a great opportunity for our CIOs to exchange knowledge, get an idea of the ever-changing trends in Infotech innovation, which can be put to practice here. We hope our members took full advantage of their interaction with their technology counterparts in Silicon Valley."
