TRA and MoE announce AED17m ICT scholarships
Agreement between the TRA and the Ministry of Education will grant outstanding Emirati students the chance to study at some of the top universities in the world.
Outstanding Emirati students will get the chance to study at some of the top universities in the world, thanks to an agreement between the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and the Ministry of Education.
The ICT Fund, under the authority of the TRA, will fund 15 foreign scholarships for science and technology, with a total fund of AED 17.6 million.
HE Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and HE Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of the TRA signed the agreement at GITEX Technology Week, to fund the scholarships as part of the Betha program.
HE Dr Belhoul Al Falasi says: “The Ministry of Education is committed to creating opportunities for local talent to pursue competitive qualifications that will prepare them to hold leadership positions, and contribute to our vision of building a knowledge-based economy in the UAE. Today’s agreement with the TRA represents a new partnership with government that I am confident will serve our students.”
HE Hamad Al Mansoori says that the deal is part of the TRA’s commitment to education and investment in the UAE’s human resources: “Through ‘Betha’ program, the TRA aims to build highly-qualified UAE Nationals that are able to develop and transform knowledge. We have signed various special agreements this week at GITEX 2016 to support the education sector in the UAE.”
