MediaTek announce chipset to support 40MP camera

Semiconductor company MediaTek has revealed the Helio X30 chipset will support a 40 mega-pixel camera, as-well-as 8GB RAM.

According to Phone Area, the chipset will feature a deca-core CPU and a tri-cluster design, similar to the Helio X20 and X25, plus it is built using TSMC's 10nm FinFet process.

The chipset will support a camera with a sensor as high as 40MP, and video capture reaching 24MP. Furthermore a 16MP camera can take video of 60fps, whilst an 8MP snapper will receive video support up to 120fps.

Also the chipset will combine with a device modelling up to 8GB RAM and the GPU on board is a quad-core PowerVR 7XT, which will support virtual reality enabled devices.

The Helio X30 is expected to power high-end smartphones during the second half of 2017.
