Serco, the company responsible for operations of Dubai Metro has renewed its contract with Nedaa for radio communications for the mass transit system.

The renewed five-year SLA ensures the continued provision of wireless communications solutions for the operations of Dubai Metro.

Under the terms of the SLA, Nedaa provides service support and maintenance of the Narrow Band Radio (NBR) System Network Elements and Radios utilized across the red and green lines of Dubai Metro. The company will also be providing the necessary radio equipment that are essential for the railways operations like the TETRA Base Stations (TBS), Dispatch units, Radio Terminals, TETRA Mobile Radios (TMR) and repeaters-along with regular maintenance checks of the units being used.

Nedaa will also provide Serco with a monthly performance KPI analysis, which includes fault reports, disturbance reports, planned maintenance notifications and consultancy services. To help further reinforce the communication needs of Dubai Metro, Nedaa has also established a 24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC) in order to address any communications-based issues and concerns.

"Nedaa and Serco's strategic partnership has successfully evolved throughout the years and the renewal of this SLA demonstrates the strength of our ties with them," said Mansoor Bu Osaiba, Deputy chief executive officer, Nedaa. "We understand the essential role of a communications system across critical operations, especially for Dubai Metro, which transports thousands of commuters every day--from early morning to late evenings. To help ensure a smooth run of their daily operations, Nedaa aims to provide their essential personnel with only the best communications equipment and solutions, which not only reinforces their operations but also guarantees the continued flow of communication among stations and their head offices."
