Crossrail partners with Bentley to advance cloud services
The construction project’s Common Data Environment has been upgraded with Bentley’s AssetWise managed services.
Bentley Systems recently announced that it has introduced upgrades to Crossrail's Common Data Environment (CDE) for asset information.
The platform was improved upon with Bentley's AssetWise managed services and now performs as a hybrid cloud-computing platform with Microsoft Azure support. In essence, the arrangement provides a single location that oversees the storage and management of data for roughly 1 million assets.
As one of Europe's largest active construction projects, Crossrail was designed utilising Bentley's modelling software in 3D, 4D, and 5D BIM formats. The technology company's AssetWise platform, based on eB technology, oversees engineering and asset information across the Crossrail project. The system is detailed enough to provide a comprehensive view across the entire project.
Commenting on the project, Alan Kiraly, SVP, Bentley Systems, shared: "Crossrail is leading the world in demonstrating the value of BIM to realize greater efficiency and cost effectiveness in project delivery and asset lifecycle information management."
David Epp, Alliances Director, Microsoft Corp, commented: "We're proud of our work together with Bentley Systems, one of our most important global collaborators."
He added: "We're particularly impressed by Crossrail's ground-breaking ambition in building both a digital and physical railway, and are delighted to have had the opportunity to come together with Bentley to address the challenges and requirements of this world-class endeavour."
