RAK eGA selects Veeam solution for systems availability
Ras Al Khaimah eGovernment Authority deploys availability solution for virtualised IT environment
The Electronic Government Authority (eGA) of Ras Al Khaimah has selected availability solutions from Veeam to improve the stability and performance of its IT infrastructure.
The eGA has deployed Veeam Availability Suite, which provides 99.97% availability, the authority reports, and has also cut recovery time for mission-critical virtual application servers, significantly reduced licence costs and delivered 30% ROI in the first year. Easier management of systems has also enabled a significant saving in man hours.
The Veeam solution replaces a previous backup solution which was not designed to handle a virtualised environment, which became an issue as eGA virtualised more of its IT infrastructure.
Alia Al Kindy, Manager IT Services, eGA explained: "With complete virtual infrastructure and mission-critical applications - representing 95% overall virtualization - we identified a shortcoming that needed to be urgently addressed.
"Veeam stood out from both technical and support perspectives. Veeam Availability Suite was easy to deploy, manage and offered rich reporting tools. We are able to retrieve and restore data that users request very easily within short timeframes."
Veeam provided EGA with multiple levels of cost savings, rapid ROI, and simplified management as well as greater visibility and lower man-power requirements. With Veeam solution allowing EGA to reassign resources to tasks that drive business productivity, the implementation has been a big success.
"Veeam has given us the confidence and ability to drive efficiency, productivity, resource and time conservation and most importantly, customer satisfaction," added Al Kindy.
