Attivo Networks embarks on Middle East expansion
Kothari: Companies are realising the importance of including advanced deception technology as part of their defence-in-depth strategies.

Attivo Networks, experts in deception technology for cyber security threat detection, has announced its expansion in the Middle East with the opening of an office in Dubai, the hiring of multiple industry veterans and partnering with StarLink, a leading value-added distributor focused on security solutions in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.

“Companies are realising the importance of including advanced deception technology as part of their defence-in-depth strategies,” says Attivo Networks’ CEO Tushar Kothari. “This was clear to us from the unprecedented interest in Attivo solutions at the recent RSA security conference and recent award recognitions Attivo has earned.

“Our powerful deception platform combined with an experienced team and a strong channel partner will open up exciting new opportunities for the company and address the region’s demand for a comprehensive approach to protecting critical IT infrastructure,” adds Kothari.

Attivo has opened an office in Dubai’s Jumeirah Lake Towers, which will serve the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.  The company provides a comprehensive deception platform, built on real operating systems and capable of detecting various classes of cyber threats including reconnaissance, stolen credentials, phishing and ransomware attacks.

Attivo’s approach to cyber threat detection provides a deception platform that in real time detects inside-the-network BOTs and advanced persistent threats (APTs) that have bypassed other prevention systems.  Traditional threat detection solutions monitor network traffic and look for suspicious attack behaviour based on known signature patterns.  Taking a different approach, Attivo provides a non-disruptive, scalable solution that instantly detects the presence of attackers, identifies their intent and provides intelligence to stop the attack.  The deception platform includes a wide variety of deception techniques, decoys, and engagement servers, and is designed for user networks, large data centres, VMware and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud and Industrial Control System ICS-SCADA environments.

The office is led by three industry veterans:

Ray Kafity – Vice President – Kafity has more than 35 years of sales and marketing management experience, and more than 15 years in the security industry.  H has held senior positions at companies that lead their industry sectors including FireEye, Cisco, BlueCoat and Lucent.

Rawad Sariedinne – Regional Sales Director – Sariedinne has spent most of his 10+ year career in security, most recently with FireEye and before that with First Video Communications.

- Yassin Watlal – Regional Systems Engineering Manager – For more than 10 years, Watlal has served as a sales and systems engineer for security and other organizations including FireEye, McAfee, Websense and Ecole Nationale des Communications.

Attivo partners with security-specialized VAD StarLink

StarLink is among the largest and fastest growing value added distributors in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa, serving 10 countries in the region. The company’s technology partners include leading players in critical security areas.  Among these are Blue Coat, FireEye, Palo Alto, Trend Micro, Splunk, and IBM for incident response, threat detection, risk and operational management solutions.

“StarLink has a history of only working with the security industry’s most innovative solutions, which provide the highest level of protection for our customers,” said Nidal Othman, StarLink’s managing director. “In Attivo Networks, we have found such an innovator in the rapidly growing area of deception.   We are eager to introduce our customers to Attivo’s advanced platform and proven capabilities.”
