Ministry of Health announces licensing process to be online only from March

Online registration only for pharmacies in UAE
Pharmacies and medical warehouses in the UAE must be licensed online from March.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) is to switch to electronic registration of pharmacies and scientific and medical warehouses from next week.

From March 13th 2016, the ministry will only accept online applications for licences. MOHAP has developed an online portal, which includes document submission and payment options so that the full registration process can be completed online.

The online process, which includes feedback and comments on registration status, will eliminate paperwork and speed up the process of registration, the ministry said. The system will be used for all licensed pharmacies and warehouses in the UAE.

MOHAP's Pharmaceutical Licensing Administration and IT department developed the solution, with payment facilities provided by the Ministry of Finance,

His Excellency Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Policy and Licensing Sector for the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, and Vice Chairman of the Medical Licensing Committee stated that the new service is part of the Ministry's strategic goal of further developing the UAE's health policy and legislation with the participation of the public and private sectors. The new licensing procedures also complement the government's shift towards the use of electronic and smart services-which will be offered on a 24/7 basis and is expected to reach a wider customer base.
