Etisalat has appointed Hatem Dowidar as its acting chief executive officer.

The telecom operator released a statement yesterday stating its CEO Ahmad Julfar resigned for “personal reasons”, a day after the torrential rain battered the UAE and disrupted communication networks in Abu Dhabi.

Dowidar will hold the post until the end of June 2016, when it plans to restructure.
