Apple has extended its Reuse and Recycling program to the UAE, enabling product owners to either recycle or receive an Apple store gift card.

The idea is any unwanted device, such as an iPhone, iPad, Mac, PC and any eligible smartphone, qualifies for a free recycle or if Apple agrees the product has potential reuse value, Apple will offer a store gift card which can be used in store or online.

To obtain a gift card, individuals must inform Apple about their device, to which Apple will notify its external partners who will estimate the market value of the product. If it qualifies for reuse, prepaid options to package and ship the product will be offered. Apple has also partnered with Sims Recycling Solutions to dispose of any unwanted equipment. Furthermore, Apple will recycle old Mac batteries for free in store.

Apple first introduced the program in 2002 at its Cupertino headquarters in California, since then it has expanded to other parts of the US, Europe, Africa, India, Canada, Japan, Asia Pacific, Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
