EMC Middle East has announced that Habib Mahakian has been appointed vice president for the company's operations in the Gulf and Pakistan.

Mahakian will lead and drive the company's business strategy across these high growth markets.

The announcement comes as EMC continues to focus on establishing an experienced and qualified leadership team to continue to direct and lead its innovation roadmap to meet the needs of both public and private sector enterprises in the region.

Mohammed Amin, senior vice president, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Africa and Middle East (TEEAM) at EMC Corporation, said: "Over the last several years, Habib has proven over and over again the value that the right leadership can bring to any business. For EMC, Habib's deep knowledge of the ICT industry and the needs of our customers has led to exponential growth and expansion of our operations across the Gulf and Pakistan."

Amin added that EMC is proud to have a deeply passionate and dedicated professional such as Habib, as a strategic part of our regional leadership team. "I congratulate him on this achievement and am confident that he will continue to perform exceptionally, working together with our channels and the IT community to help customers successfully make the transition to the third platform," he said.

With over 25 years of experience in the region's fast evolving IT industry, Mahakian has played an instrumental role in driving core customer and channel relationships, firmly establishing EMC's leadership position in the region.

Mahakian added that: "It is an honour to lead EMC's operations in this vibrant ICT market, helping both customers and channels to leverage the era of digitisation and innovation in their own business."

he said customers today are looking to EMC to help them transform their IT and to provide the agility and intelligence that any enterprise needs to grow in a heavily competitive environment. "That is a responsibility we continue to take seriously and I look forward to bringing EMC's value to customers across this region and in the years ahead," he pointed out.

Mahakian will be based out of EMC's regional headquarters in Dubai, UAE and will report Amin.
