CITC extends deadline for Saudi MVNO licence again
New deadline for bids to be third Saudi virtual operator set for December
Saudi Arabia's Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has extended the deadline for tenders for the Kingdom's third Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) licence.
The new deadline for bids is 10th December. It is the second extension to the tender process, which was extended to 13th August from the original deadline of June 2014.
The CITC said on its website that the extension had been made "following a number of requests from stakeholders".
The award for the third MVNO licence was originally made to a consortium led by Dubai-based retailer Axiom, which would have offered services over Zain Saudi's network, but CITC ordered the licence to be re-offered in April 2014.
The two other MVNOs in Saudi, Virgin Mobile Middle East and Africa (VMMEA), which operates on STC's network, and Jawraa Lebara, which operates on Mobily's network, already launched services last year.
The Commission said that it invites all interested parties to visit CITC website for news, updates, and to submit their applications for MVNO licenses in accordance with the specified requirements set by CITC.
