ICDL Arabia honoured for work online child safety
UAE Ministry of Interior awards ICDL for cyber safety campaigns for youth
The UAE Ministry of Interior's Child Protection Center has recognised ICDL Arabia for its work in promoting online safety for children.
ICDL Arabia, the governing body and certification authority of the ICDL certificate program in Egypt, GCC States and Iraq, was presented with a plaque in appreciation of its work, at an event held to recognize individual and institutional endeavours towards the cyber safety of children.
ICDL Arabia has collaborated with several government organisations and private institutions to raise awareness about internet safety and the responsible use of various social media platforms. Moreover, it has launched several initiatives for school children about safe internet etiquette, digital safety education, appropriate online behavior, and cyber crimes.
Jamil Ezzo, director general of ICDL Arabia, commented: "It is a tremendous honour to receive this recognition from the Ministry of Interior as we strongly feel that it is the duty of every individual and institution, private or public, to protect children from the threats lurking on cyber space. ICDL Arabia remains focused on spreading awareness about the safe and secure use of the Internet and social media and is currently working hand-in-hand with the concerned authorities to educate society in general and children in particular about the mindful use of modern technologies. Rest assured, we will continue with our efforts to launch more initiatives so that the youth can enjoy the benefits of the Internet and social media without any having to face the risks and threats swarming all over the Internet."
