The handset comes with a 5-inch HD display, preloaded Microsoft Office and up to 30GB of free cloud storage via OneDrive. It also features a 5MP wide-angle, front-facing camera and rear-facing 8MP camera with LED flash. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage space. The handset will be available in four colours: cyan, orange, white and black.

The 540 is also Windows 10-ready and will accept the upgrade, when it becomes available later this year. For now, the handset runs Windows Phone 8.1.

"The Lumia 540 Dual SIM is a testament to our passion for product-making that is reflected across the entire Lumia product portfolio and will continue with future devices," said Vithesh Reddy, general manager, Lower Gulf, Microsoft Mobile Devices.

"With the Lumia 540 dual-SIM, we've made it possible to deliver a smartphone with strong design and technology credentials that is also fun to use, and incredible value for money."
