Acer has announced the launch of a 34-inch curved 21:9 ultra-wide monitor, which the company claims is the world's first curved monitor with NVIDIA G-SYNC.

Acer is pitching the technology as providing an "immersive gaming experience with minimal stutters and screen tears". The XR341CKA model carries DTS sound, a pair of 7W speakers and a zero-frame design.

The unit's display is a curved 21:9 UltraWide QHD (3440 x 1440) resolution IPS panel with a 178-degree viewing angle. According to Acer, it supports "100% of the sRGB colour gamut, delivering [the] accurate colour reproduction desired by design professionals and photo enthusiasts for precise colour-matching across applications and print output".

The screen is designed to place every pixel at equal distance from a user's eyes and is said to "present a more immersive experience with a wider field of view and increased perceived area of peripheral vision compared to a flat display of the same size".

For gamers, the XR341CKA has a number of features that allow the monitor's performance to be fine-tuned, including 6-axis colour adjustment through NVIDIA G-SYNC; on-screen display of the refresh rate; and three different aim-point icons.

The monitor can be tilted from -5° to 35° and adjusted vertically up to 130 mm. It also features "flicker-less technology", aimed at lessening eye fatigue. It supports DisplayPort and HDMI inputs, and has a built-in USB 3.0 hub, which supports charging of smartphones and other devices.

The Acer XR341CKA will be in the region by the fourth quarter, but pricing has yet to be announced.
