DISTREE Events, says it will launch the Diamond Awards at this year's show.

DISTREE Middle East has kicked off today with the organisers of the premier retail show promising that this year's event will feature a new conference programme and bring some of the region's top retail executives to discuss challenges facing the retail channel in the Middle East.

The event which will be held from 12th to 14th May, will see more than 70 retail brands participate this year, showcasing their latest products and holding pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with leading consumer electronics retailers across the Middle East, North Africa and CIS.

According to DISTREE Events, the conference programme will include two major tracks, bringing retailers and e-tailers fully up to speed on the latest product, technology and business trends.

In addition, the company said smart technologies is a product-focused theatre targeted at the latest developments driving smart homes, wearables, connected devices and the deployment of consumer Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.

Farouk Hemraj, director and co-founder, DISTREE Events, said: "DISTREE Middle East 2015 is a highly focused event. We are set to host a record number of senior executives from the region's most influential retailers, e-tailers, distributors and vendors."

Hemraj said the event is a powerful opportunity for vendors and distributors to showcase their product portfolio, reinvigorate retail alliances, identify and recruit new partners and learn more about how their brands are actually perceived in the market.

He added that in terms of highlights for the 2015 event, the DISTREE Diamond Awards for vendors will launch at this year's show.

Hemraj said in addition to the awards, this year's event will also feature a new "Retail Voices" panel discussion. "The premise is simple: we bring together five of the region's top retail executives to discuss some of the controversial and complex issues facing the retail channel today," he explained.
