ESAG Group migrates to SAP HANA system
Company becomes first major conglomerate in UAE to move to HANA
Easa Saleh Al Gurg (ESAG) Group this month became the first large conglomerate in the UAE to migrate to the SAP HANA system, the company announced today.
The migration project began in January 2015, in partnership with SAP Field Services.
After detailed testing in a sandbox and testing environment, the production system migration was undertaken over the weekend of April 3 and April 4, the company said.
ESAG Group said that the migration had already yielded many benefits in terms of data and task management, and that the deployment represented a significant achievement for its in-house SAP Solution Department.
"The SAP HANA platform has changed our view of data management and simplified tasks, giving our business a cutting-edge advantage and incomparable agility. Today's accelerated business environment requires real-time response to changing market conditions," said Abdulla Al Gurg, group general manager at ESAG Group.
"But gathering actionable information from large data sets is beyond the capabilities of conventional infrastructures. With the SAP HANA platform's innovative in-memory technology, we will be able to analyse massive data sets to gain real-time information and take a faster business decisions."
As part of its ongoing drive for operational efficiency, ESAG has also adopted best practices to support business planning. The company said that it expects the SAP HANA project to transform its business planning and budgeting processes.
Meanwhile, businesses within ESAG can now take advantage of real-time analysis, which speeds up planning cycles, sales and production processes as well as financial transactions, the company said. ESAG added that it would now expand its SAP footprint by exploring further into SAP HANA capabilities and add-ons.
"This launch takes our partnership with ESAG to the next level, recognizing that the Group is a regional leader in the adoption of the latest technology solutions to support their growth and the UAE's diversifying economy," said Frank Forndron, director of quality management at SAP MENA.
"We are confident that ESAG and their customers will be reaping the benefits of their smart technology investment."
