HID Global partners with Samsung on KNOX-based access solution
South Korean vendor’s Galaxy S6 handsets to integrate with HID’s Mobile Access offering
Access solutions specialist HID Global today announced it has partnered with Samsung on enterprise solutions that will be delivered through the South Korean company's KNOX 2.4 mobile platform.
KNOX 2.4 will be included in Samsung's Galaxy S6 smartphone, launched last week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Enterprises will be able to deploy HID's Mobile Access solution using KNOX, in combination with Seos, another mobile access platform.
"Mobility is a top priority for organisations because more employees than ever before are demanding access to the apps and data that will make them productive on the go," said Debra Spitler, vice president, Strategic Alliances, HID Global.
"Whether using their own devices or a corporate-owned device, employees can use this integrated solution to access their workplace conveniently and securely. We are pleased to partner with Samsung to deliver a versatile secure solution for mobile access across the enterprise."
Users can download the HID Mobile Access app to their Samsung mobile device and access doors and gates via NFC or Bluetooth Smart by interacting with iCLASS SE readers supplied by HID Global. As ppart of the solution, administrators can issue and revoke Mobile IDs via HID's Secure Identity Services portal.
"By partnering with HID Global, Samsung is able to provide enterprise IT departments with the ability to leverage the Samsung KNOX platform when implementing HID Mobile Access," said Rick Segal, vice president, Enterprise Business, IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. "This capability allows enterprises to push the HID Mobile Access application and profile directly to the user's KNOX container resulting in a highly secure solution."
