ManageEngine rolls out Office 365 license management, reporting
ADManager, ExchangeReporter additional functions designed to ease admins’ headaches
Real-time IT management company, ManageEngine, has announced the addition of an Office 365 bulk-licence manager to its Active Directory management software, ADManager Plus, and an Exchange Online reporting module to its Microsoft Exchange server reporting solution, ExchangeReporter Plus.
The additional feature in ADManager Plus is designed to allow administrators to manage Office 365 licences of multiple users at once. The reporting module in ExchangeReporter Plus is aimed at providing admins with a structured view of how Office 365 resources are being consumed.
ManageEngine argues that Microsoft's Office 365 management portal "fails administrators on several fronts". Among examples cited by the company are the portal's inability to manage more than 20 user licences at a time and the fact that it cannot import users from a CSV file and bulk-edit their licences.
ManageEngine submits that admins rely heavily on PowerShell to perform tasks like modifying a large number of Office 365 licenses and to query Azure AD tenants. PowerShell, however, is a command line tool that is "time consuming and hard to use".
"After we added Office 365 provisioning and reporting capabilities to ADManager Plus, our customers started asking for a bulk-licence management utility that would offer some flexibility in managing Office 365 licences," said Manikandan Thangaraj, director, Product Management, ManageEngine. "So we not only added that utility in ADManager Plus; we also upgraded ExchangeReporter Plus to report on Office 365 mailboxes. This way, administrators need not struggle with PowerShell to get mailbox statistics that ease licence management."
ADManager Plus pricing starts at $495 and ExchangeReporter Plus at $295.
