Apple explores driverless car tech
Cupertino chats to experts about autonomous vehicles, says insider
Apple is examining driverless-car technology, talking to a number of specialists about the subject, Reuters reported, citing unnamed industry sources.
According to the source, the Cupertino firm is keen on making its own vehicle from scratch, to compete with the efforts of tech rival, Google.
"They don't appear to want a lot of help from carmakers," said the source, who declined to be named.
The source also said that autonomous cars were years away and manufacturers would likely bring a number of iterations of partially automatic cars to market first.
