Linksys launches new dual-band smart Wi-Fi routers with built-in modem
Linksys XAC1900, XAC1200 ‘remove need for separate modem’
Linksys has launched two new dual-band smart routers for the Middle East market.
The AC1900 and AC1200 dual-band smart Wi-Fi modem routers are the latest additions to the Linksys EA series line-up featuring a built-in DSL modem.
Both units are designed to "[make] it easy to connect to a DSL Internet service... without having to purchase an additional device", according to a statement from Linksys.
The modem routers deliver "next-generation" Wireless-AC technology and dual-band speeds of up to 4.3 times faster than Wireless-N for the XAC1900 and up to 2.8 times faster for the XAC1200, Linksys said. The XAC1900 also comes with three adjustable, external antennas to optimise Wi-Fi signal throughout the home.
Designed to sustain multiple devices and users, the XAC1900 offers simultaneous dual-band speeds of up to N600Mbps (2.4GHz) + AC1300Mpbs (5GHz), which targets the model at online gamers or users that stream high-definition media. It also features an upgraded CPU that delivers speeds of up to 800Mhz.
The XAC1200 reaches speeds of up to N300Mbps (2.4GHz) + AC867Mbps (5GHz).
Both devices can act as traditional wireless routers by connecting the Ethernet port to a cable modem if needed.
"Our Linksys XAC1900 and XAC1200 are designed to provide a rich media experience for Internet users," said Mike Chen, vice president, product management, Linksys. "With the built in DSL modem and many other features, these routers will make setting up much easier... Often there is a forgetfulness that investing in a quality router can help increase download speed and also Wi-Fi signal in the home, so these products have been tailored to make it as seamless as possible."
