Facebook, Instagram go offline

Facebook went offline today along with its photo-sharing service Instagram.

Online media outlet, the Next Web, claimed the outage was worldwide and that it first occurred at 1.10am in New York, US (10.10am in the UAE).

No statement has been issued by Facebook at the time of writing apart from the "Sorry, something went wrong" message presented to Facebook users when they try to log on.

Cyber rascals Lizard Squad tweeted that Tinder, AIM and Hipchat are also down, but does not suggest any responsibility on its part.
