Huawei’s consumer branch targets $16bn revenues for 2015
Targets for 2014 missed despite shipping 75m handsets
China's Huawei today announced its consumer electronics unit would target annual revenues of $16bn for FY 2015, Reuters reported.
The division head, Richard Yu in December said his unit had shipped about 75m smartphones last year, which was a year-on-year increase of 40%, but still fell short of its 80m target.
Huawei is one of a number of Chinese vendors building cheaper smartphones to compete in both the premium and budget space.
Market leader Samsung has seen a gouging of its global market lead by cheaper handsets from Chinese rivals.
