Social network will no longer use Microsoft’s search results in user queries

Facebook dumps Bing

Facebook is now excluding search results from Microsoft's Bing, Reuters reported this weekend.

The decision was confirmed by a Facebook spokesperson.

"We're not currently showing Web search results in Facebook Search because we're focused on helping people find what's been shared with them on Facebook," said the spokesperson. "We continue to have a great partnership with Microsoft in lots of different areas."

Facebook has a focused a lot on search this year, upgrading its own capabilities to reflect comments in July by chief executive Mark Zuckerberg that there were more than 1bn searches on Facebook each day.

The company launched a service last week that allowed users to query archived content posted by friends on Facebook.
