Samsung Electronics this week unveiled the NX1, which the vendor claims is "the world's fastest and most accurate interchangeable-lens camera".

The NX1 is the latest addition to Samsung's NX series, which combines connectivity features with "crystal-clear image quality, lightning-fast shutter speeds, and a durable body that lets users take photos under any conditions". The range is aimed at professional photographers.

The camera was unveiled in association with Gulf Photo Plus and in the presence of award-winning photojournalist David Burnett, recently named one of the "100 Most Important People in Photography" by American Photo magazine.

"By expanding our award winning NX series with the NX1, we are confident that our latest model will equip professional photographers with the tools to capture the perfect shot," said Raj Varma, division head, Mobility Sales Group, Samsung Gulf Electronics. "Unrivalled by any other compact system camera on the market, the NX1 boasts superior shutter speed and image quality that will leave you nothing less than impressed with this camera's performance."

The NX1 comes with a DRIMeV Imaging Engine, which allows for 28MP photos to be taken at 15 frames per second (fps).

Videos can be captured in 4K UHD, four times higher resolution than HD. Samsung said the footage is "guaranteed to be smooth and impressive, whether you are viewing it on your laptop or on a high-resolution television".

Samsung also said image clarity also extends to low-light environments, and images remain clear and bright through use of the NX1's Adaptive NR technology, which analyses and processes detail, colour, and other elements of the subject, when activated.

The Samsung NX1 is priced at AED5,999.
