SAG announces plans for Smartglass technology in Saudi
Saudi American Glass brings latest innovation in glass to construction industry in KSA
Saudi American Glass (SAG) has announced that it is unveiling its revolutionary Smartglass and FireLite technology at the Saudi Build 2014 exhibition, currently under way in Riyadh.
According to SAG, there is $195.4bn worth of construction planned in Saudi Arabia in the next three years, and the focus is on the implementation of rapidly-changing technologies, materials and techniques in the projects which includes Smartglass, a flat glass product that can turn from translucent to opaque, and which allows instant privacy at the flick of a switch.
Rizwanullah Khan, executive president of SAG, Emirates Glass and Lumiglass, said: "Since its inception in 1978, Saudi American Glass enjoys a strategic leadership in architectural flat glass in Saudi Arabia. With the Smartglass and FireLite technology, we are taking our leadership to the next level. We are constantly working in tandem with building code officials, designers and manufacturers to identify and develop glass products that adhere to the safety, aesthetics and other requirements of the building industry, and happy to showcase these at Saudi Build."
SAG, which is part of Glass LLC, a subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC and a processor of Architectural Flat Glass in the Middle East, provides glass for industrial, architectural and construction applications, and is also showcasing the FireLite solutions, a thick fire-rated and glazing material that blocks fire and smoke and equipped to meet impact resistance requirements.
Smartglass is currently enhancing environments in more than 33 countries across six continents.
