Emirates ID Wins SESAMES 2014 Award
The National Validation Gateway is chosen as best technological innovation
The Emirates Identity Authority has won the SESAMES 2014 Award in the category of Identification/ID Cards/Health/E-Government.
The award was won by the authority for the "cutting edge innovation it demonstrated in the National Validation Gateway."
"The advanced identity management infrastructure in the UAE is now widely recognised across the globe as one of the world's best. The National Validation Gateway, which serves as the cornerstone of identity authentication in service delivery in the country, is a historic milestone in the UAE's transition towards smart governance. It not only allows public service providers to authenticate the identity of service seekers electronically and instantaneously, but also enables electronic signatures in digital transactions using the national identity card," the Authority said.
The SESAMES Awards, which are organised by Cartes Secure Connexions, were announced yesterday in Paris as part of the Cartes Secure Connexions Exhibition and reward the ten best technological innovations in the smart card, digital security, identification, secure and contactless transaction sectors in ten categories.
"The Validation Gateway also helps save time and money in transactions, in addition to the fact that it helps avoid the use of tonnes of paper. As per recent estimates, it has potential to help save around US$5bn annually by reducing energy costs, papers and plastic cards in the country. The digital validation gateway provides an advanced and secure infrastructure for authentication and validation of identities and enhances the quality of procedures by allowing instant identification and saving time," the Authority added.
