DoT launches updated traffic app at GITEX
Abu Dhabi Department of Transport exhibits latest version of 'Darb'
The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi is launching an updated version of “Darb”, at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK.
Darb, which means “the way” in Arabic, is an online service that allows residents to access information on driving directions, road works, bus routes and other transport services in the emirate.
Mohamed Salim Al Naqbi, GIS Specialist, who was head of the Darb project says: “Darb is launching during GITEX and we are planning to do a campaign next week to announce the launch in Abu Dhabi.”
Using the Geographical Information System (GIS), Darb helps users to access up-to-date data, including live traffic information; points of interest (ATMs, petrol stations, hospitals); ferry routes and timings; and a bus-planner feature. It also provides information on all airports in the UAE.
Users can also share geographic locations across social networks, and access car-pooling and taxi-booking features.
The department is also using GITEX to highlight its Customer Relationship Management System, (CRM), which launched last year. The CRM enables the DoT to conduct searches, send notifications to the public, process service requests and manage customer complaints and suggestions.
The DoT is also promoting Mawaqif, a parking service that regulates parking in Abu Dhabi.
Users can purchase Mawaqif Rechargeable Cards and link them to their account, which can be topped up via various recharge methods.
