Samsung Electronics has listed the next generation of its budget phablet range Galaxy Mega, on its Thai website, according to fan site SamMobile.

Galaxy Mega 2 comes with a 6-inch display at 720 × 1280 pixel resolution, and is the follow-up to last year's Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Mega 5.8. It measures 163.6 x 84.9 x 8.6 mm.

At its heart lies a 1.5GHz quadcore processor, which SamMobile speculates is Samsung's proprietary Exynos chip. Also on board is 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, which is expandable via microSD cards. The rear camera is 8MP with LED flash and the selfie variant is 2.1MP.

The Mega 2 runs Android 4.4 (KitKat) and also carries some features normally associated with Samsung's premium devices, such as Ultra Power Saving Mode.

For now the device is only available in Asia, with no word on when Gulf retailers might start selling it. When it does become available, it will probably sell for a price around the AED1,500 mark.
