Apple fans face month-long wait for iPhone 6
Record pre-orders double those for iPhone 5
Apple fans may have to wait until next month to get their hands on the Cupertino-based firm's next-gen iPhone 6 devices, following a record 4m pre-orders, Reuters reported.
The pre-booking levels were double those placed for the iPhone 5. Introduction of a larger screen in the iPhone 6 Plus and an alluring companion wearable in the Apple Watch, has driven demand for the products at a time when Apple needed to reinvigorate the premium market.
"Assuming pre-orders are similar to the 40% of first weekend sales for the iPhone 5, this would imply iPhone 6/6 Plus first weekend sales could be around 10m," Wells Fargo Securities analysts wrote in a note.
Apple often encounters week-one supply problems for its premium products. In the case of the iPhone 6 range, the company's decision to make thinner devices led to a design flaw in the screens, which had to be reworked during the summer, delaying production.
