Open source solutions firm Red Hat, Inc yesterday launched updates for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5, the latest version of its enterprise-ready OpenStack platform built with the latest Icehouse community release.

An updated installer and new "high-availability" capabilities are designed to enable rollout teams to more easily produce a "healthy and fault tolerant... Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform deployment", according to Red Hat.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5 debuted in July 2014, featuring an extended three-year product support lifecycle and enhanced support for VMware infrastructure. Delivered as an "intuitive, wizard-style" graphical user interface, the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform Installer is aimed at allowing installation without the need for deep command-line deployment expertise.

"We're excited about continuing to deliver on enterprise-grade OpenStack with the enhancements to Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform," Radhesh Balakrishnan, general manager, Virtualisation and OpenStack, Red Hat.

"These enhancements are designed to address enterprise needs around ease of deployment and high availability and to further enable broad adoption of Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, which is backed by the industry's broadest partner OpenStack partner ecosystem."
