BlackBerry CEO looks to new growth
Chen: BlackBerry expects to add headcount in certain areas.

BlackBerry is ready to grow again, and to start hiring again, according to a company memo from CEO, John Chen.

According to Reuters, in the memo, Chen says that the company is now out of its restructuring phase and is now looking to increase headcount.

"We have completed the restructuring notification process, and the workforce reduction that began three years ago is now behind us," Chen wrote in the memo. "More importantly, barring any unexpected downturns in the market, we will be adding headcount in certain areas such as product development, sales and customer service, beginning in modest numbers."

At the end of last month, BlackBerry announced the acquisition of German mobile security specialist Secusmart GmbH. Sales of BlackBerry handsets make up a very small percentage of the smartphone market, but Chen has stated that the company aims to focus more on enterprise solutions in mobility management and security.
