D-Link launches Gigabit Wi-Fi router in UAE
Dual-band device offers up to 1,900 Mbps connectivity, D-Link says
D-Link MEA today launched its new DIR-800L Wireless AC1900 Wi-Fi Dual-Band Gigabit Cloud Router, which the vendor said could provide speeds of up to 1.9 Gbps.
The Wi-Fi router, aimed at fast home and small-to-medium business networks, features what D-Link calls AC SmartBeam. This, the vendor said, increases wireless speed and coverage by tracking the devices and connecting them to the broadband Internet connection.
"Users will realise a remarkable improvement when connecting to the Internet. This router is a pioneer in offering up to 1,900 Mbps speeds - 60 0Mbps (2.4GHz) plus 1,300Mbps (5GHz) - through its high-powered amplifier and three external high-gain antennas," said Harrison Albert, regional director at D-Link Middle East & Africa.
"It creates a wireless signal that reaches farther than most Wireless n and 11ac routers."
The device features gigabit Ethernet ports, providing high-speed wired connections for up to four PCs or other devices, D-Link said. Meanwhile, the router can be set up using a touch-enhanced, web-based wizard. It also allows users to control and manage the network from anywhere in the world using a web browser.
In terms of efficiency, the DIR-880L operates on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless bands at the same time using concurrent dual-band technology and three external antennas, D-Link said. This allows users to browse the web, chat and e-mail using the 2.4 GHz band, while simultaneously streaming digital media, playing online games, or making Internet phone calls on the 5 GHz band, for instance.
The device also features two USB (one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0) to connect storage devices and printers for sharing.
The DIR-880L is available at all leading retail stores and computer shops across the UAE. The retail price is $245.00.
