Offering aimed at hybrid cloud environments
Security vendor Trend Micro today announced a solution that it said was designed to cater specifically to VMware's vCloud Hybrid Service.
Trend is a VMware security partner and Deep Security for vCloud Hybrid Service is aimed at providing "a comprehensive platform for security controls and policies managed across physical, virtual and cloud environments".
"As VMware introduces new cloud capabilities, we are expanding our relationship to further align our efforts to extend customers' security capabilities so they can leverage the ROI of the cloud with confidence that data will remain safe," said Partha Panda, vice president of global channels and strategic alliances, Trend Micro. "This offering delivers on-premise-style security in hybrid cloud environments without compromising performance or productivity."
Deep Security for vCloud Hybrid Service allows the extension of on-premise security to cloud workloads. According to Trend Micro, Deep Security's interoperability with VMware vCloud Director and other VMware technologies, facilitates the automatic detection of virtual machines (VMs) and the application of context-based policies to them. Also included are features such as virtual patching of virtualised software suites.
"Security is a priority for our customers as they migrate to the public cloud from on-premise or hybrid environments," said Ajay Patel, vice president, vCloud Hybrid Service, VMware. "With the Trend Micro Deep Security solution on VMware vCloud Hybrid Service, customers can now seamlessly extend their security policies from on-premise to cloud and benefit from advanced threat protection for their hybrid workloads."
A component of Trend Micro's Cloud and Data Center Security solution, Deep Security combines intrusion detection and prevention; anti-malware; integrity monitoring; vulnerability scanning; firewall; and SSL.
