In a bid to enabled rapid deployments, Schneider Electric has introduced 14 prefabricated data centre modules and 12 new prefabricated data centre reference designs.

The new reference designs provide details on data centres scalable in 250kW to 2MW increments that meet Uptime Tier II and Tier III standards, Schneider said. The energy management specialist added that the modules deliver IT, power and cooling integrated with data centre infrastructure components.

The prefabricated modules range from 90kW to 500kW in capacity and are customisable, Schneider said.

"Today's business environment demands data centres that are increasingly more flexible and scalable with an emphasis on deployment speed," said Kevin Brown, vice president, data centre and global offer, at Schneider Electric.

"Prefabricated data centres enable data centre managers to maximise the speed of business through rapid installation, easy expansion and improved cash management. This approach inherently increases the predictability of the build process, since most of the construction occurs in a factory instead of the field."

Schneider said that, as flexible capacity becomes critical to data centre operations, modular expansion is becoming a popular option for data centre managers.
