New Fluke solutions 'cut testing time in half'
FI-7000, MultiFiber Pro and SmartLoop OTDR added to Fluke's family of testing products
Fluke Networks today unveiled three new ‘Accelerator' solutions, which it claimed could help data centre, large enterprise and datacom technicians complete fibre jobs in less than half the time.
The FI-7000 FiberInspector Pro, Singlemode MultiFiber Pro and SmartLoop OTDR will be added to Fluke's family of cabling certification and network testing products.
"Organisations increasingly need more fibre cables to keep pace with technologies that demand greater processing power and bandwidth," said Robert Luijten, Fluke Networks EMEA Marketing Manager.
"The right cable testing solutions can lower costs significantly by reducing truck rolls, eliminating process steps and dramatically shortening the time required on the job site. We believe our new solutions will do exactly that for our customers."
The FI-7000 inspects the fibre connector's end-face, analysing the fibre core, cladding, adhesive layer and contact surface for damage and defects. The solution then generates a pass/fail designation as per the IEC 61300-3-35 standard, Fluke said, claiming that it could deliver a certification in two seconds or less.
The solution also features analysis software to highlight detected damage and defects, making contaminated areas easier to find, Fluke added.
"A fiber network failure or latent problems can cost millions to a large data centre or enterprise, to say nothing of the time and effort wasted on finger pointing and subjective, manual inspection," Luijten said.
"The FI-7000 takes the guesswork out of fibre end-face testing while cutting inspection time to two seconds or less. What's more, it leverages our powerful Versiv Cabling Certification platform, increasing the overall value to our customers."
Meanwhile, Fluke said that the singlemode MultiFiber Pro is the first tester to be specifically designed for singlemode MPO cabling. The vendor claimed that it can cut test time by up to 95%, from roughly 6.5 minutes to 20 seconds.
The third new offering, the SmartLoop OTDR, is the industry's first product to test two separate fibre links in a single test, Fluke claimed. This, the vendor said, would eliminate the need to travel to the far end of the connection to perform tests, but can also cut network testing time by 50%.
