GITEX Shopper Spring 2014 gets underway
DWTC’s consumer electronics fair kicks off its second spring edition
Dubai-based consumer electronics retail show GITEX Shopper Spring opens today at Dubai World Trade Centre, running until Saturday 26 April.
The show, known for its bargains, retail bundles and competitions, is now in its second Spring edition and features, among other attractions, the chance every day to win a limited edition 2014 Honda Accord DX. Honda also pledged that visitors to its stand will receive a discount voucher of "up to AED 5,000" that can be redeemed at showrooms against the latest Honda Accord LXB and CR-V LX models.
Attendees also have the chance to win a Toshiba Encore WT8 tablet every day, just by visiting the show.
Cricket fans need not worry about missing any of the action as the IPL matches will be shown live on a mega screen at the show.
GITEX Shopper is also known for product launches. This year, expect to see the Nokia Lumia 1520, and Nokia X, the Finnish vendor's first Android-based smartphone. Toshiba has announced it will display its new Satellite series, the Satellite C, Satellite L and Satellite P, as well as its premium notebook, KIRA.
Global PC market leader Lenovo will be bringing its latest smartphones, PCs and tablets, including Vibe Z, Vibe X, Yoga 2 Pro, A370, Flex 14, Yoga Tablet and Miix 2.
Doors open at 11am and close at 11pm. Now that the show is in its new home at DWTC, footfall has reportedly increased due to the venue's proximity to the Metro system. This year, to accommodate weekend bargain hunters, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the Metro will begin operating at 10am on Friday 25 April.
Tickets are priced at AED15 per person, per entry and admission is free for children under five years. Children below the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
