Zain, OTMT extend Lebanese mobile contracts

Kuwait-based telecom provider Zain Group and Egypt's Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding (OTMT) this week announced they have extended their network management contracts with Lebanon's government for a further three months.

Zain operates Touch Lebanon, while OTMT runs the Alfa network, under agreements signed with Lebanon's Ministry of Telecoms, which expired at the end of March.

The extensions will provide for services delivered for the period commencing 1 April 2014 and ending 30 June 2014. Terms and conditions of contracts remain the same.

"Being awarded this further extension, despite its short duration, OTMT remains committed to playing a positive role in the development of the mobile sector in Lebanon," Orascom said in a statement.
