CME Awards 2014 honours channel champions
The winners of the seventh Channel Middle East awards revealed
The achievements of the region's IT channel industry were celebrated last night at the Sofitel Dubai The Palm Resort and Spa, as Channel Middle East held its seventh annual awards.
The event, held alongside a gala dinner, attracted over 360 IT leaders from the vendor, distributor, reseller and retailer community across the Middle East region, where they were honoured for their accomplishments and dedication to the development of the regional channel over the last 12 months.
Twenty awards were presented and they recognised the companies, partner programmes and individuals that have done the most to build and improve the health of the Middle East IT channel sector.
Highlights of the awards included Mohammed Mobasseri Kaul, CEO at EMT Distribution, who was recognised as Channel Executive of the Year, while Mario Gay, general manager, Mindware won the Outstanding Contribution to the Middle East Channel award, with Al-Jammaz Distribution being recognised for its contribution to the KSA channel.
In the reseller categories, Pro TECHnology won the SMB Reseller of the Year, while ALROWAD IT Solutions scooped the Systems Integrator of the Year. For the second consecutive year, Emax was named the Power Retailer of the Year in a hotly contested category.
In the reader-voted categories, selected via online polling by the readers of Channel Middle East, Channel Arabic and ITP.net, VMware won the Best Vendor Channel Programme for its VMware Partner Network, with EMT Distribution taking Best Distributor Channel Programme for its EMT Magnitude loyalty programme.

In another tightly contested category of Value-Added Distributor of the Year, Westcon Middle East emerged as the winner for the second year running while the IT Distributor of the Year - Broadline Products was scooped by Redington Gulf.
Ramzi Kuhail, director, Enterprise Sales at telco du delivered the first keynote address and encouraged the region's channel partners to embrace solutions selling and expand their depth in systems integration.
Basil Ayass, marketing director at Dell Middle East also gave a vote of thanks and said the changes happening in the IT market required partners to adapt or risk the possibility of exiting the channel landscape.
