R&M cabling to underpin Oman Panorama development
Solution will be comprised of R&M's proprietary Cat.6 UTP connectivity technology.
Cabling specialist R&M has been contracted to deliver a high-performance, end-to-end cabling solution for the Panorama commercial and residential project in Oman, the vendor announced Thursday.
The solution will be comprised of R&M's proprietary Cat.6 UTP connectivity technology, and will be used for voice, video and data transmission. R&M said the solution will provide the backbone for delivering reliable high-speed internet, IPTV, CCTV video-conferencing and communication applications within the project.
The Panorama project will consist of seven towers and a shopping mall. Each of the seven towers will feature two basement levels, a ground floor and seven additional floors. Two are set to become five-star hotels, four will be serviced apartment buildings, and one will be an office block.
For the cabling aspect of the development, there will be 4,500 points of R&M Cat.6 copper cables enabling up to 1 Gbe connectivity and supporting applications with bandwidth of up to 450 MHz, R&M said.
Installation of the cables is being carried out by the vendor's partner, systems integrator Al-Jassar Telecom (AJT).
"The challenge was to provide world class products at a competitive price," said Sunil Nair, business head at AJT.
"Despite the fact that there were a number of cabling vendors shortlisted for the project, R&M was chosen because of various competitive advantages like presence and support of R&M's local team, the company's reputation for Swiss quality products, 25-year system warranty, excellent design consultancy and last but not the least highly competitive pricing."
Omani property developer Allied Real Estate is behind the project, and has signed a five-year annual maintenance contract with AJT.
